On Wednesday, April 28th from 6-8pm, students, families, teachers and community members filled the halls of Metcalf Elementary to celebrate the first annual "Metcalf Community Arts Night"! This fun filled event included artwork and creative classroom work posted from every student at Metcalf (over 1,000 pieces!), a Student Artist Scavenger Hunt, an Edible Art Family Contest, three band performances, and light refreshments. "Metcalf Community Arts Night" was created by the Family and Community Life Committee as part of the School Improvement Team. Coordinators included Mrs. Hurst from the fifth grade, Ms. Murray our guidance counselor, Ms. Place our music teacher, and Ms. LaFrenaye our art teacher. The team also received great support and help from Mrs. Dorson, Mrs. Walsh, Mrs. McGrane, Mrs. Dionne, Mrs. Sipolski, Miss. Rhoetekhor, Miss. Matthews, and the wonderful fifth and sixth grade student helpers. This was a true community event and we hope to turn this into a wonderful, interactive and fun tradition for many years to come!
